Winter League

The Halo Winter League is Wilmington’s premier league for kids to grow with the game of basketball!  We provide kids ages 5-18 years old with an opportunity to play on a team with their friends in a fun, fast-paced competitive environment.  Our rules are modified to help young people progress as they get older.  

This season, we’re focusing on being GAME CHANGERS, with every player doing good things on and off the court.  Come join the action with Halo Hoops!

Practices

Practices for Hotshots (5 year olds) is on Saturdays 30 minutes before their games.  Practice/Games will start for them on Dec. 5th.

Practices are provided and paid for 6-9 year old teams and coaches may select their practice time and location on a first-come, first-served basis.  We have several locations for practices, including but not limited to: Temple Baptist Activity Center, Brigade Boys and Girls Club, First Baptist Activity Center, Wilmington Basketball Center, Noble Middle School and Murray Middle School.

Crossover (10-13) and Rec league (14-18) coaches are responsible to secure and pay for their own practices.  Halo Hoops will have times reserved for Crossover and Rec teams to pay for at a discounted rate.  If Crossover and Rec teams secure team sponsors, then practice can be paid for if facility is one that Halo has reserved.

Games

We use the Halo Rules which are designed especially for young players to grow with the game. And of course, every player gets to play in every game.  (See the Halo Rules for minimum playing times.) Possible game locations include: Brigade Boys and Girls Club, First Baptist Church Activity Center, Myrtle Grove EPC, Wilmington Basketball Center, and Cape Fear Academy.

5 year olds – Super Early Bird $75, Early Bird $85, Standard $95
6-7’s, 8-9’s – Super Early Bird $100, Early Bird $110, Standard $125
10-11’s, 12-13’s – Super Early Bird $90, Early Bird $100, Standard $115
14-15’s, 16-18’s – Super Early Bird $75, Early Bird $100, Standard $115

Discount Deadlines

Sept 15th:  Super Early Bird Discount Deadline – price goes up $10
Oct 15th: Early Bird Discount Deadline: price goes up $15
Nov 8th: Registration Deadline for Hotshot, Youth and Crossover Leagues
Nov 15th: Registration Deadline for Rec. League

Important Dates

Week of Nov. 16:  Practices start for Youth League
Nov. 21st: Preseason Clinic for 5-11 year olds
Dec. 5 thru Feb. 13 (except Dec. 27 and Jan. 3):  Games on Saturdays (Hot Shots have a practice and game.)
Feb. 20:  Celebration for Hot Shots and Youth Leagues
Feb. 15-27: Playoffs for Crossover and Rec Leagues
